Company has been around for over 22 yearsSystems Administrator (LINUX)As an IT System Administrator at Cortera Inc you will support the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of Cortera’s core computing environment (servers, storage, operating systems and infrastructure). These systems are host platforms for database and application systems. System Administrators specialize in hardware and operating system support, user support, account and permission management, and the performance management and security. You will work with All departments to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license and security compliance.Responsibilities and Tasks:· Mange system setup and standardization of features and usage.· Install, configure support, and maintain hardware and operating system solutions.· Create system documentation,· Maintain systems by keeping them compliant with company standards for optimum performance and capacity utilization.· Maintain systems with the current OS, and software and firmware patches and upgrades.· Maintain standards of operation, such as backups, naming standards, and configurations.· Coordinate planned downtime.· Communicate system status and coordinate maintenance activities.· Monitor the environment for potential system issues and resolve appropriately.· Adhere to the change management process for any planned maintenance, or when potential issues are identified.· Coordinate vendor-specific support and problem resolution. Experience:· Troubleshooting knowledge in Linux and Windows Server operating systems· Good Understanding and hands-on experience VMware ESXi clusters· Experience working with SAN storage setup and configurations· Provisioning, support, and maintenance of Hadoop cluster· Hadoop cluster software/hardware upgrades· Zoning experience with SAN attached storage systems using fiber channel switches· Shell scripting· Installation and configuring of Apache Tomcat and Apache Web servers.Qualifications:· Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or related field· Previous work experience in 24x7 IT support role· Effective oral and written communication skills· Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities· Project management skills
