IBM Research is looking for a Design Research intern for the Emerging Technology Experiences team. The mission of this team is to quickly prototype, build and test new technologies, bringing them out of the lab and into the world. This team is comprised of extraordinary developers and designers, who work closely with members of the scientific research community.
As a Design Research intern, you will help provide actionable and meaningful data-driven insights that represent the voice of our users. You will collaborate across development and design, and product management to evaluative current and upcoming user research needs that help to improve product definition and drive business goals. An optimal candidate should be a passionate, curious and a self-driven team player who has a strong collaboration ethic while working with a global multi-disciplinary team.
Candidate will be responsible for adhering to the Design Thinking process, crafting personas, assembling user stories and scenarios, influencing design strategy, conducting stakeholder and sponsor user interviews.
Work Location: Austin, TX or Yorktown Heights, NY
**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**
+ Develop a well-crafted research plan with clear research objectives.
+ Write a usability research screener and discussion guides.
+ Moderate one-on-one basic usability sessions.
+ Conduct stakeholder and client interviews.
+ Extract insights about user behaviors from web instrumentation tools.
+ Translate user insights into actionable recommendations for the design and development teams.
+ Present design research findings to the larger team with a clear and organized fashion.
