JOB MISSION: This role will lead the warehousing and distribution operations that service footwear, apparel and accessories for our wholesale, retail and E-Commerce divisions in the United States. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Maintains and develops a highly effective organization able to service all channels and divisions and spans multiple locations, business units and functions. Establishes and meets all financial and budgetary objectives while servicing customers at established service levels agreements. Works with sales/customer service teams to ensure clear, measurable and high-quality service level agreements for all outbound orders. Ensures that the proper management oversight, expectations and methods for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment within all operations. Oversees and manages relationship with 3PL s operating New Balance facilities and operations to meet customer demands and requirements. Responsible for ensuring contract requirements are fully met. Works with the Account Services group to balance cost and service requirements to satisfy customer needs. Interfaces and communicates effectively across a broad group of internal and external stakeholders. Works regularly across multiple organizational levels, functions and business units. Manages resources expertly while driving continuous improvements and achieving various financial, operational, service and organization improvement targets. Works with others throughout the organization to understand business, industry and operational realities and trends that impact DC performance. Adapts quickly to internal and/or external changes or disruptions that affect service, costs, facilities, associates (NB or 3PL), etc. Ensures clear and measurable KPIs are in place for all operations. Manages in a fact-based manner and ensures effective measurements are in place across the distribution network. Identifies issues and opportunities affecting Distribution Operations performance, regardless of source. Will organize efforts to constructively and effectively address these issues and opportunities. Develops annual expense and capital budgets, working with designated Finance team members. Ensures capital maintenance and upgrades are performed on a timely basis and consistent with budget to ensure on-going and safe operations. Proposes capital enhancements to improve service quality, productivity improvements, throughput or storage expansion, etc REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS Bachelor's degree in supply chain related field. Graduate degree preferred. 10-15 years experience in supply chain operations including extensive experience in both warehousing and material handling automation. Professional experience should be gain predominately in high volume, fast moving consumer facing industries with large product portfolios. Combination of both manufacturing and retail industries preferred. Experience working with 3PL partner(s) to accomplish short and long term business goals. Experience managing a large direct workforce as well as through third party logistics providers Excellent negotiation skills as well as verbal and written communication skills Highly adept at balancing and achieving complex objectives related to service, cost, safety, organization health and stability, and customer requirements. Ability to influence internally and externally at all levels of an organization. Strong strategic thinking skills and proven ability to apply industry best practices to a large operation. In depth knowledge of distribution terms, warehouse operations, workforce management, productivity, and material handling equipment. Must have experience with WMS, WCS and high volume automated and mechanized material handling equipment. Expert knowledge of industry and functional trends and best practices.
