ThePersonal Lines Assistant Director ~ Product Management has profit and lossresponsibility for our auto and homeowner's insurance products for a state orstates within an assigned geography.Their ideas, insights, and ability to execute a strategic vision andfoster change directly impacts our business and our shareholders. In addition to developing and executing a strategicvision that enable long-term success, the AD, Product Manager is intimatelyinvolved in setting prices, designing product features, and articulating thetype of business that the company should target for profitable growth in theirassigned states. By applying theircritical thinking skills, communication abilities, and creativity tochallenges, the AD, Product Manager has accountability for one or more stateswithin a defined region for a Fortune 500 company. Thisposition reports into AVP, Region Product Manager. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** •Accountable for achieving / exceeding revenue and income targets for assignedstates •Develop strategic vision and tactical plan that will profitably expand marketshare within assigned states •Address the day-to-day needs of numerous functional area partners who aresupporting assigned states •Remain grounded in state-specific data so that shifts in competitiveness andprofitability are well anticipated •Work directly with organizational teammates when developing, customizing, andlaunching new products •Partner with resources necessary to maintain state compliance, quality and competitiveness regarding policy forms and coverage •Effectively utilizes a network of reliable, efficient working relationshipswith other departments including countrywide product, pricing, agency sales. Dataanalytics, underwriting, claims, service, marketing communications and otherareas that support the business to monitor market dynamics, understand ourcustomers better, and lead efforts to make changes to business offerings andprocesses •Develops credibility in unfamiliar environments; including agency partners,affinity prospects, regulators, senior leaders, and cross functional projectteams. •Cultivates an active network of external relationships in order to meetbusiness and strategic goals. •Develop & sustain productive relationships with state regulators. Qualifications: TheHartford is seeking a highly-qualified individual who possesses a minimum of 7years of experience in Personal Lines or Commercial Lines Product (Management or Development), Pricingand/or Underwriting in a comparable role is required, as well as: •A bachelor's degree preferably in a discipline requiring critical thinking andanalytical skills. •Analytical & problem-solving skills, including the ability to encourage newways of looking at problems, processes and solutions. •Comfort level with presentation and marketing skills; interpersonal andrelationship management skills with an emphasis on customer focus,collaboration and partnering to obtain results. •Able to effectively and with minimal supervision conduct competitor analysis& gain an in depth understanding of market dynamics including competitor underwriting initiatives, rate level analysis, forms analysis as well as economic trends& emerging issues in the market. •Knowledge of state laws in order to make decisions regarding key issues &to identify opportunities to affect legislative change. • Solution-orientedindividual with ability to think strategically and implement change. •Ability to plan for the long-term while balancing the short-term needs of theorganization. •Analytical and critical thinking skills, with thorough attention to detail. •Organizational, documentation, and problem solving skills. •A team player with experience building strong relationships both internally andexternally, and with a sense of initiative and desire to succeed. •Drive-for-results mentality, with ability to multi-task and make decisions in abusiness context. •Ability to evaluate loss cost models in an effort to construct innovative andsuccessful risk pricing strategies. •An independent thinker as well as a challenger/advocate to ensure the soundnessof product and pricing; able to understand financial ramifications. •Travel commitment of up to 10% of time for market-related travel. **WhyJoin The Hartford?** Visitour website to learn about The Hartford's recognition.
